Networks & Services Solutions Designer.Our client is a global organisation and a leader within their field.Overview of Role: The role holder is involved technically and professionally in producing new networksolutions for defence sector contracts and bids.The key responsibilities are: design (high level and low level), development, consultancy, integration, solution evaluation and support. This person will work as part of a team and this requires the establishment and maintenance of close working relationships across the business and with our external customers.Essential Skills, Experience and Qualifications:* Experienced Ericsson Passport Packet Exchange (PPX) design engineer (formally Nortel Multi-Service Switch (MSS) / Passport). To include experience with the MSS 7400, 15K and 20K platforms.* Recent experience of Nortel MSS design and provisioning including Nortel Passport Voice Services, HDLC, BTDS, Frame Relay, Aal1CES, PNNI, ATM UNI, SPVCs, PVCs, ATM IMA and EVLS.* Recent experience with Nortel Preside MDM.* Previous experience in Layer 2 network design including SDH, TDM, ATM, WDM/DWDM and Ethernet. * Previous experience of designing traffic demands across a network to satisfy the specific customer requirements.* Previous experience of capturing site specific installation requirements to ensure the proposed design is compatible with the customer environment. * Experience of implementing ATM and/or DWDM Networks.* Understanding of network management platforms.* Experience of capacity management and network modelling.* Able to work independently but within a team, with minimal supervision, in order to achieve customer defined milestones.* Able to work & communicate with the customer and represent the SDA at customer meetings.* Strong interpersonal and team working capability.* SC clearance or willingness to become SC is requiredSWINDON or IPSWICH
