Our major client in the Telecoms space is looking for a WDM Transmission Planning Engineer for a contract job on a 12 month rolling basis. It is essential that candidates have experience on Ciena/Nortel CPL & OME6500 equipment. This role will involve becoming the client's internal and external "champion" for Strategically Planning the Core WDM network. You will build and maintain successful stakeholder relationships with internal/external customers & suppliers. You will also assist 2nd Line Operations with the integration of any new Transmission network elements on the Nortel, Transmode & ECI management platforms. You will ensure effective capacity management, resilience management, quality of service management and engineering support for all new and legacy Core Optical platforms. You will provide technical assistance to the Optical Planning support team for all equipment life cycle management and type approval issues providing all assistance necessary to support the Network Capacity Plan. You will provide assistance to support the WDM monthly SLA and performance metrics. You will also be responsible for improving WDM team processes Candidates MUST have clear Transmission design and planning experience particularly on the Ciena/Nortel CPL & OME6500 equipment.
